The price seems high until you receive the product and see how well-built it is. We bought one of these screens several years ago, and immediately bought a second one after receiving it. I've just purchased two more, so we can have windows open in every room during pine pollen season. They are made of metal mesh that fully protects the filter material, with tough gaskets to fit tightly in the windows. While they do restrict air flow (as any filter would), a breeze allows air to come through them easily, and most importantly, keeps ALL of the pollen out. It's so nice to be able to open the windows and take advantage of mild spring temperatures without turning the house yellow. We haven't had to replace the filters yet (as we don't use the screens year-round), but will probably need to replace the ones on our original screens after this season. In any case, I can't stress this enough - they are absolutely worth the money, and will last for years and years, because they are very durable.

This screen is definitely worth the price - it's very solidly built, and clearly made to last. It forms a nice seal in the window, and lets a decent amount of air through. We loved it immediately, and my husband had me get another one right away for his office. It's pine pollen season here, and it's terrible to have to keep windows shut when the weather is perfect. This is the solution we needed!

There is a noticeable reduction in house dust with their use. They are not very noticeable when installed. However, they are difficult to expand to their full 36" width. Might be easier to expand to 36" if they were made slightly wider to avoid misalignment when expanding towards their maximum limits.
Excellent solution to our excess CO2 in the house

We've been ones to seal our home due to on-and-off year-round allergies and didn't realize that our doing this caused CO2 levels to get quite high (we now use a CO2 monitor). Now when it's cool enough we can leave a couple of windows open to get fresh air into the house with minimal allergy symptoms. An added bonus is the privacy from its design. Bought 5 - haven't used them long and seldom all five at a time - but it's useful to have them near the windows they're for. One was a bit warped but easily straightened by hand. Two are for side-open windows. It's best to hold it open to its fullest as you pull the window shut on it. The round gaskets and friction keep it open in the vertical orientation. Obviously there's less breeze through these than standard screens, but opening two or more windows encourages air flow. For more rapid airing out of the home, leave a fan on in front of one window, either aimed toward the window to pull air from another window through the home, or away from it to bring air in from that window and push it out another. Bonus: Mission Allergy had a very nice price when I purchased them!

Our window sashes slide horizontally--90 degrees from the traditional windows shown in the illustration. But I can make them work for our house, especially windows on the west side where the pollen blows in. I first bought screens of this design a couple of decades ago from another catalog, just to keep the summer rain out and still have moving air. As I have become more allergic to dust mites and pollen over the years, the screens and the replacement filters have become more important to our warm weather house maintenance. I briefly considered the Pollentec option, when one exterior screen needed total replacement after a bad storm. But with these screens, I can take care of 7 windows instead of 2, for less cost.

Use them all spring and summer to keep pollen out of the bedroom. Love that I can keep windows open and not be bothered. Need to use allergy meds less with them in.
have sharp wire edges. My hands were cut up. The replacements now have an end tract cover to avoid this. However...between the removing of parts, refitting and reassembling it was a disaster for me! They no longer slide open properly.
What a waste of time and money. Never and now I'm left with ill fitting messy filters.
