1. Vacuum your carpet with a vacuum cleaner that traps allergens.
Dander allergens are very small particles, and will blow out the exhaust of many standard
vacuum cleaners. The allergen-trapping ability of a standard vacuum can be improved,
however, simply by using high filtration bags.
2. Confine the pet to a small area that is closed off from the rest
of the house, ideally one with a wipeable floor.
3. Minimize direct contact with the pet, or at least wash hands
after touching it. Do not sit on furniture that the pet frequently occupies.
4. Wash the pet to temporarily remove allergen from its skin. Because
new allergen is produced relatively quickly, the pet must be bathed twice weekly for this
to be effective.
